On Thursday, October 1, 2026, our 25 Grade 4 students took part in the Francophone Taste Games (Jeux francophones du Goût) at TIM Corp, alongside students from another French school in the city and from French bilingual classes in Vietnamese schools. The games are organized by the Culture et Espace Francophones association, with support from TIM Corp and TV5MONDE; the Consul General of France, Etienne Ranaivoson, officially opened them.

Here are thirty photos of the day. Tap a photo to see it larger. Pupils from other schools have their faces blurred.

The Consul General meets young French speakers

Welcomed by Alexandra Rendall and Jaime Peypoch of the Culture et Espace Francophones association, the Consul General toured the workshops: a cocoa bean tasted straight from the pod, chocolates from the ChocoLab, the aromas of coffee right through to the beans coming out of the roaster. Then he came to see our Grade 4 students at the crêpe workshop and the ice cream workshop.

Our Grade 4 students in the kitchen

Cookies decorated with chocolate from a piping bag, crêpes (one of them shaped like a mouse), ice pops, a blindfolded tasting, and chocolate smiley faces, even in the palm of a hand. A day of learning French with their hands, in teams with older students from the bilingual classes of Vietnamese schools.

The people who made the day

The association’s activity leaders, the chefs and teams at TIM Corp, the speaker who told the story of cocoa’s journey from pod to chocolate, and our teachers, who played along right down to wearing a blindfold. Not to mention the great debate of the day: which is better, durian or cheese?
