At what age are children accepted?
Children are accepted from 6 months old in nurseries.
Children who turn 3 years old during the calendar year (before December 31st) can be enrolled in the Petite Section (preschool) program.
What happens if there is no more space?
A waiting list is managed by the nursery manager. Your child can be registered and you will be contacted as soon as a place becomes available.
Are we entitled to a school scholarship?
Yes, children of French nationality can apply for a school scholarship.
Are you part of the AEFE?
Yes, we are an AEFE partner establishment from cycle 1 to cycle 3, from Petite Section to CM2.
Will my child be able to join another accredited French school after Boule & Billes?
Yes, Boule & Billes follows the same programs as all French schools accredited in France and abroad.
Home & Opening Hours
What are the opening hours?
The school is open from Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Outside of these hours, we offer a drop-in childcare service. More details can be found in the Drop-in Childcare section below.
What time can I drop off my child?
In daycare, children are received from 7:30 am to 9 am.
In preschool and elementary school, reception takes place from 7:30 a.m. to 8:05 a.m.
What time can I pick up my child?
- In daycare (half-day): between 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
- In kindergarten: at 3pm if there is no extracurricular activity, at 4:20pm if there is, and on Wednesdays after lunch at 12:00pm, or after activities at 3pm or 4:20pm.
- In elementary school: at 3pm without extracurricular activity, at 4:20pm with activity. Wednesday after lunch at 12:00, or after activities at 15:00 or 16:20.
Nursery
At what age are children accepted?
How is the adaptation going?
The separation is done gradually, with a parent present for the first few days to reassure the child.
What are the opening hours at the daycare center?
From 7:30am to 4:30pm. For half-day trips, departure is between 11:30am and 12pm.
We also offer drop-in childcare from 18 months old (see Drop-in Childcare section below).
Do I need to provide the diapers and milk?
Yes, nappies and powdered milk must be provided by the parents.
What should I prepare for my child?
Spare clothes, good shoes, a pacifier or a cuddly toy if needed, a swimsuit, a water bottle and toiletries if you have a preferred brand.
Meals & Snacks
What kind of meal is served at lunch?
We offer a variety of European and Vietnamese dishes, prepared on site by our cooks. Fruits and vegetables are given preference. In elementary and preschool, a vegetarian menu is offered once a week.
Is the meal included in the school fees?
No, lunch is charged as an extra (see prices).
Does the school provide breakfast?
No, breakfast must be eaten at home.
Do the children have a snack at school?
Yes, only if they participate in an extracurricular or after-school activity.
School Life
What language do you speak to the children?
French is the priority language but children have English lessons (see British International Section) and Vietnamese from the first year of preschool (PS).
For children who do not yet speak French, the introduction is done gently, through daily instructions and play, but also with French as a Foreign Language (FLE) classes.
Do the children take naps?
Yes, the students in the Petite and Moyenne Section sleep after lunch, around 11:45 am. In the final year of preschool, a quiet time is offered.
Do children take a shower at school?
No, except when absolutely necessary.
What do I need to bring for my child at daycare?
Diapers, bottles and powdered milk if needed, change of clothes, suitable shoes, pacifier or cuddly toy, swimsuit and water bottle.
Is the staff trained in first aid?
Yes, all staff receive first aid training, which is renewed annually.
How do you act in the event of heavy pollution?
A specific protocol is applied. The pollution level is measured several times a day and activities are adapted accordingly.
Education
What is the curriculum in preschool and elementary school?
The lessons follow the official programs of the French National Education system and cover five areas: language, physical activity, artistic activities, thinking/logic, and exploration of the world. The focus is on language, exploration, and play.
Are the teachers French and qualified?
Yes, they are PE (Primary School Teacher) graduates and have at least 3 years of experience. They are on secondment or leave of absence.
What is the British International Section?
It is a bilingual French-English education, enriched with British culture, offered from the first year of primary school (CP). Children follow the official French curriculum while benefiting from enhanced English lessons, British literature, and an international cultural exposure.
School Bus
Do you offer a shuttle service?
Yes, shuttles and taxis with escorts run morning and evening.
Can the shuttle be used on an occasional basis?
Yes, subject to availability and with payment per ticket.
Are the buses equipped with seat belts and car seats?
Yes, all buses have seat belts, and car seats are installed for younger children.
Is my child alone with the driver?
No, a school chaperone is always present.
What happens if the bus or the family is late?
A procedure is planned and communicated to parents (see transport regulations).
Extracurricular activities
Who are extracurricular activities for?
They are open to children from Petite Section to CM2, whether or not they are enrolled at Boule & Billes.
How are activities organized according to age?
Some are reserved for kindergarteners (e.g. Vovinam, KinderMusik), others for elementary school children (e.g. tennis, karting). Some activities, like swimming, are offered to everyone, with groups based on skill level.
Is registration quarterly or a one-off payment?
Registration is by term, but it is possible to participate on an ad-hoc basis if places are available.
What is the maximum number of children per activity?
Each activity is limited to 12 children.
Do the activities require any particular attire?
Yes, appropriate sportswear. For judo or Vovinam, a kimono is required. Swimsuits are mandatory for swimming.
In case of rain or pollution, are activities maintained?
Yes, a protocol provides for indoor alternative activities.
Are children covered by insurance in case of an accident?
Yes, for the students of Boule & Billes. Children from outside the home must provide proof of insurance.
Activity Center
Who is the leisure center for?
For children enrolled at Boule & Billes and for children from outside, from Petite Section to CM2.
Where is the activity center located?
At the Thao Dien and Binh Thanh sites, sometimes outside depending on the training courses.
Is it possible to register your child on a one-off basis?
Yes, for half a day, a full day or for the entire duration of the center, with a package or ticket.
Does the price include meals and activities?
Yes, it includes activities, equipment and lunch. For full-day bookings, afternoon snack is included. Some outings, training courses or transport are at an additional cost.
What happens if my child does not participate in an outing?
He can stay at school, but not necessarily with children his own age. The prices are not adjusted.
Daycare / Drop-in Childcare
How does the daycare center work?
It welcomes children on prior registration (preferably notify the day before). Payment is made by the hour (any hour started is due). Children participate in adapted activities, free play and outdoor time if the weather permits.
What are the opening hours of the daycare center?
- At Thao Dien: from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Service for children from 18 months to 5 years old (from nursery to kindergarten).
- In Binh Thanh: from 4:30pm to 5:00pm. Childcare service for elementary school children.
- Daycare drop-off = 8:00 to 12:00 for the nursery = Hourly rate.
Who can benefit from it?
The daycare center is open to children registered at Boule & Billes as well as children from other facilities who cannot be picked up after school.
